Capture One 21 (14.4.0) update released, brings back Exporter features

Capture One has announced the Capture One 21 (14.4.0) update, which is available now for all Capture One 21 users. The update includes new camera and lens support, new features, plus a significant update to the Exporter, based on user feedback.

Looking first at the Exporter. In July, Capture One released 14.3.0, which redesigned the Exporter experience. However, what was meant to be an improvement and overall simplification, was not a universal upgrade for all users. Some users strongly preferred the old Exporter and were upset that their workflows were disrupted. Capture One writes, 'As Capture One stands committed to ensuring our software develops in a way that includes the functionality critical to the workflow of many professional photographers, we are pleased to restore that functionality that many asked to return.'

With today's update, all tools from the Exporter are now available in the primary window of Capture One. Capture One states that 'they can be added as a pre-made Export Tool Tab by right-clicking the Tool Tab bar and selecting Add Tool Tab > Export.' You can also add any Export tools individually to any Tool Tab or drag them out as floating tools. The available Export tools are Export Adjustments, Export Cross Recipe Tokens (new), Export Format & Size, Export Location, Export Metadata, Export Naming, Export Queue (reintroduced), Export Recipes, Export Summary, and Export Watermark. Additional information regarding Cross Recipe Tokens can be viewed here.

Capture One 14.4.0 includes new features, as well, including tethering for Sigma fp and fp L cameras. Currently, supported functionality includes file transfer and exposure triggering from Capture One. Users can also change camera settings, use basic live view and autofocus from the connected computer. There are some known issues with corrupted DNG files, but Capture One notes that an upcoming camera firmware update will address the issue.

The new Capture One update also adds general camera support for the Fujifilm GFX 50S II, Nikon Z fc, Olympus Pen E-P7 and Pentax 645Z. Regarding Fujifilm cameras, you can now change camera settings on a tethered Fujifilm camera. New lens support has been added for the Sigma 20mm F1.4 DG HSM Art (Sony E), Sigma 85mm F1.4 DG DN Art (Sony E), Sigma 105mm F2.8 DG DN Macro Art (Sony E), Sigma 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN (Sony E) and Canon EF 70-200mm F2.8L IS II USM + 1.4x III teleconverter.

In terms of computer support, Capture One 21 (14.4.0) is supported on macOS Big Sur 11.6. On both Windows and macOS, users should see improved catalog performance. Further, it's now easier to adjust the Magic Brush. You can now use similar shortcut actions as the regular Adjustment Brush. To see the list of shortcut command actions, visit the Support page.

It's worth noting that the ongoing Capture One 21 to Capture One 22 Upgrade promotion is still active until October 4 at 6:00 PM ET. You can learn more about this promotion by reading our earlier coverage. Capture One 22 will be launching this December.
