Fujifilm has announced the date of its next X Summit event, wherein the company will celebrate the 10-year anniversary of its X mount camera system and release its newest X Series camera. The event is set to take place online in May 2022
Yesterday, January 9th, was ten years to the day that Fujifilm announced its first mirrorless interchangeable lens camera (MILC), the X-Pro1. Alongside three lenses, the X-Pro1 the way for Fujifilm’s increasingly popular X Series, which now consists of 28 MILCs and three dozen lenses (if you count the XF1.4x TC WR and XF2x TC WR teleconverters).
As part of the 10-year anniversary of its X mount, Fujifilm says it will be releasing a collection of videos featuring photographers around the world who use Fujifilm’s X-mount cameras. Fujifilm is also starting a hashtag campaign. Each month, Fujifilm will select a theme as a photo prompt for X-mount users. After capturing and editing the image(s), Fujifilm says to post the image to social media platforms, such as Instagram, with the hashtag ‘#10YearsOfXMount.’ If your image gets noticed by Fujifilm, the company may ask permission to share your image on its ‘FujifilmXWorld’ account.
In the last minute of the video, Fujifilm confirms it will be releasing 5th-generation X-mount camera, which it says ‘will be a further evolution of the X Series based on the expertise of the last 10 years.’ No other information is provided regarding the forthcoming camera, but the rumor mill is pointing towards it being a successor to the Fujifilm X-H1.
