Two days ago, Pentax updated its K-mount lens roadmap with a new HD Pentax-D FA 100mm F2.8 Macro lens. Today, we’re already getting our first look at the updated lens in the form of a few leaked images that appear to be screenshots from some kind of press briefing.
First spotted by Pentax Rumors, the new lens appears to be nearly identical to its non-HD predecessor on the outside. According to the slides shown in the leaked images, the lens is the same size and weight as the existing model, but features a new optical system as well as the ‘HD’ coatings to reduce purple fringing.

According to the report, the HD Pentax-D FA 100mm F2.8 Macro lens will retail for more than the current model and is set for a 2022 release, although no specific date has been provided at this time. The existing Pentax-D FA 100mm f/2.8 WR Macro lens retails for $547.
