Nikon has released a teaser for a forthcoming 'online launch event.' The website features a countdown to Midday UTC / 8AM ET / 5AM PT on May 10th.

It provides an opportunity to sign up for more information, but at present doesn't give any further details.
However, there have been rumors of a high-end 'Z8' model sitting below the Z9 for several months now and it seems unlikely Nikon would go to the lengths of 'teasing' anything less than a major model.
